Tragic Incident in Philadelphia: Gunman’s Rampage Kills 5 and Injures 2
A terrible incidence happened in the city of Philadelphia, United States, in which five individuals were killed and two children were injured in a shooting attack by a man wearing a bullet-resistant vest.
The suspect, a 40-year-old man who has since been arrested, was carrying an AR-15-style weapon, a pistol, a police scanner, and ammo.
There is no evidence of a connection between the dead people, whose ages were stated to be between 15 and 59 by police.
On Monday, the city’s southwest Kingsessing neighbourhood received a police call. According to Police Commissioner Daniel Outlaw, “When officers reacted, they identified several armed individuals and took them into custody.” They heard several gunshots as they were caring to the wounded and getting them ready to be taken to the hospital.
Officers then chased the man on foot while the shooting continued, damaging parked cars and leaving gunshot shells all over the streets.
According to local time, the police trapped the person in an alley at roughly 8:40 p.m. (00:40 Tuesday GMT). He evaded capture and was apprehended without any additional complications.
Jim Kenney, the mayor of Philadelphia, spoke at a news conference on Tuesday and detailed the horrifying assault carried out by a gunman donning a bulletproof vest.
According to Commissioner Outlaw, the “heavily armed and heavily fortified” suspect went on a rash shooting rampage and killed five people, including “children.”
